Blockchain Evolution is shaping up the entire eco system and India doesn’t want to be left behind. Recently, one of the Heavy Vehicle Manufacturing Giant Mahindra’s subsidiary company Mahindra Agri Solutions Ltd made an announcement that it would be leveraging Blockchain Technology for one of its Business Venture which is grape exporting. This’ll be a use case for the supply chain industry in India and as reported by most of the leading news ventures, this has been done with aim to create a transparent supply chain system and to elevate the Brand Image of Indian Grape Exports.
As reported by Crypto News through its interview of Mr. Ashok Sharma, Managing Director and Chief Executive Office of Mahindra Agri Solutions Ltd, he was quoted saying that
“We are the first company in the world to introduce blockchain technology for grapes. This will enable the consumer to be assured that what they are consuming is safe.” Sharma, in a conversation with news portal, Hindu Business Line, added that this adoption will help change the perception of Indian origin fruit or food, adding that that there are very few use cases in India on blockchain technology.
Hindu Business Line further reported that though the total export quantity is around 800-900 containers of grapes, Mahindra will initially be dispatching around 40-50 containers of grapes only leveraging Blockchain Technology. This can be called the pilot project and the number is set to increase after the company has a proof of concept. These grapes are set to be exported to different parts of the world with a greater focus on Chineese and European market and the dispatch shall begin by late January or early February.
Mahindra signed an MOU with the Telangana Government to launch one of its kind and India’s first Blockhchain District in the above mentioned State recently in the month of August and from then it has not looked back. As quoted by Crypto News:
This is far from the first instance that Mahindra has looked at leveraging blockchain technology. In August the company signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), with the Telangana government to launch India’s first Blockchain District in the state. At the time, Tech Mahindra CEO and MD, CP Gurnani had said, “It is also a huge step in reskilling and right skilling the workforce of the future. Blockchain experts will be our crowning jewels as together we work towards making India the blockchain capital of the world,”
This is a big step by a company which is also into food business and it can prove to be one of the best use cases for the Indian Market Supply Chain System. As reported by one of the famous news blogging website
“It will provide an opportunity for the blockchain ecosystem in India to collaborate and work towards building a blockchain district in Telangana and transforming India as the blockchain capital of the world,” Gurnani had added.
As also known and reported by the leading news channels Tech Mahindra and Microsoft have been working with TRAI on this issue since the time this regulation was in effect to be formally organized and have planned this arrangement post a progression of aggregate sessions with the controller and various partners in the esteem chain.
